Workshop Overview

This course will cover the fundamentals of project management in the biopharmaceutical industry and advanced skills in biopharma-specific tools, techniques, and methodologies. Day 1 of the course provides an overview of the drug development process and how project managers are involved in each stage. We then cover fundamental practices that every project manager should know, using examples specific to biopharma, using the GRIDALL project management framework. On Day 2, we cover more advanced topics that are unique to project managers in the biopharmaceutical industry, such as team structures, governance models, and development and submission planning.

Program Focus

• Understand the drug development process and how project managers are involved in each stage of the process
• Appreciate the diversity of roles a project manager has across the drug development paradigm
• Be able to manage projects using the GRIDALL project management methodology
• Have a working knowledge of team models and decision-making principles that enable a project manager to navigate a project through an organization’s governance structure
• Be comfortable with converting strategies into plans by mapping goals to a project schedule
• Be familiar with the components of an Asset Development Plan, Clinical Development Plan, and Market Application Submission Plan
• Appreciate the interconnected nature of various workstreams that culminate in a body of evidence provided to regulators to support risk-benefit assessment
